At Vaan, we’re known for creating innovative solutions that not only meet our clients’ needs but also push the boundaries of what’s possible in the e-commerce world. We specialize in building top-tier Shopify solutions, and we're now looking for a Technical Strategist to join our team and help transform our clients online store sales funnel by working closely with internal and external teams to assess and ideate on new campaigns and strategies that drive growth. If you have a strong background in strategy, marketing, and client engagement within the ecommerce space, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

The position is open for candidates in the US.

The Role:

The Technical Strategist is a critical thinker and problem-solver responsible for designing and executing technical strategies that drive performance, scalability, and conversions for client websites. This role blends technical expertise with data analysis and experimentation to deliver impactful, measurable results, ensuring that the solution approach is aligned with both client objectives and optimal customer experience.  As part of the strategy team, the Technical Strategist collaborates with developers, analysts, and growth strategists to craft data-driven recommendations and continuously optimize site functionality and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Strategy & Planning:

    • Define and oversee the technical strategy for client engagements, ensuring alignment with broader business and growth objectives, as well as the broader client delivery roadmap.

    • Partner with developers to implement best practices in solution quality, security, and scalability, including technical SEO, accessibility and performance optimizations.

    • Support technical audits of client websites to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions to address potential issues in site performance, architecture, and infrastructure.

  • Analytics & Data Insights:

    • Use analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.) to review site performance, user behavior, and conversion rates, drawing insights that inform technical and strategic recommendations.

    • Collaborate with analysts to interpret complex datasets, identifying patterns in user engagement, site interactions, and traffic sources.

    • Accountable for tracking and reporting on technical performance metrics, ensuring that all technical initiatives are measurable and aligned with client KPIs.

  • Experimentation & A/B Testing:

    • Design, implement, and manage A/B and multivariate tests to validate hypotheses, improve conversion rates, and enhance the user experience.

    • Coordinate with the UX Researcher & Analyst to identify test hypotheses and evaluate user behavior data, ensuring that tests are meaningful and targeted.

    • Analyze test results to draw conclusions and present actionable insights, contributing to an iterative optimization process that continually enhances site effectiveness.

  • E-commerce Business Analysis:

    • Evaluate e-commerce performance metrics (e.g., customer lifetime value, cart abandonment rate) to understand the full scope of client business goals and create strategies that improve these key performance indicators.

    • Develop insights into customer behavior, purchase paths, and conversion funnels, working closely with the Growth Strategist to align technical efforts with customer acquisition and retention objectives.

    • Identify revenue-generating opportunities within the technical infrastructure, such as integrating personalization, recommendation engines, or automation tools.

  • Technical Consultation & Client Communication:

    • Act as the primary technical consultant for client meetings, translating technical strategies and performance data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

    • Provide recommendations on new technologies, tools, and platforms that enhance site functionality, data collection, or user engagement.

    • Collaborate with the Growth Strategist to ensure technical solutions directly support business outcomes and contribute to overall client success.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in technical strategy, web development, or a related analytical role within an e-commerce or digital agency environment.

  • Proficiency in web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) with a strong understanding of technical SEO, performance optimization, and data analytics.

  • Experience with analytics and experimentation tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Optimizely, Google Optimize) and a strong ability to interpret and communicate test results.
